For the past couple of months I’ve been hearing this song called, “Tik Tok” on my local radio station. In my head I’m like this must be a local artist that they’re showing love to because this song doesn’t start off like you would expect it to for a major recording artist. I hear this song every freaking time I turn on my radio in the car, but I always found it kind of odd that I never hear the on-air personalities say who the artist is. Well her name is Ke$ha, and yes her name is spelled with the symbol for money so don’t go thinking it’s a typo or anything. Sure it’s a little ambitious of her but WHY NOT!

Well her face may not be all that familiar but just about everyone in the free world has heard her voice before thanks to Flo Rida’s multi-platinum song “Right Round”. Does that ring a bell… she was the girl singing the hook. While she didn’t make it into his video, her voice still managed to dominate the airwaves over and over again thanks to Flo Rida (or shall I just say Florida – the boys aka is Florida… I don’t give a damn).

Anyway girlfriends song is “Tik Tok”, and was downloaded 610,000 times in one week upon back in December 2009 upon its release according to Nielsen SoundScan. Which also happens to be the highest digital total for a female artist in one week since they started tracking these figures.

While I’m not sure if this girl is the new Lady GaGa (like we really need another one of those), but so far Ke$ha proven that she’s got what it takes to make her stamp on the industry. Her debut album “Animal” is in stores now and I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more of Ke$ha whether we want to or not.
