Ponyo(Noah Cyrus)is a magical goldfish princess who yearns to become human. Upon her escape from home she’s rescued from the ocean by a 5-year-old boy named Sosuke (Frankie Jonas). He vows to take care of her and protect her they begin to form a very strong bond. However, her father, Fujimoto (Liam Neeson), is not so willing to let her stay with the humans and sends his wave spirits to capture and return his beloved daughter to him. Fujimoto wants her to remain the little goldfish he named Brünnhilde, but she refuses and insists on being called Ponyo!
Her desires of becoming human are really strong, and Ponyo uses her powers to temporarily grant her wish so that she can reunite with Sosuke. However, her transformation triggers the powerful forces of nature to rebel and this upsets the world’s natural balance. Gran Mammare (Cate Blanchett), Ponyo's mother, declares that if Sosuke and Ponyo pass a test, Ponyo can live as a human and the world order will be restored. Their journey together expresses love in all its forms and is a true treasure to behold.
