“The Karate Kid” has been resurrected once again but this time with a slightly different twist. 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jayden Smith) might have been the most popular kid in Detroit, but when his mother's (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move takes them to China he becomes a fish out of water. To make matters worse when Dre falls for his classmate Mei Ying cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make him an instant enemy to the class bully, and maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), teaches Dre that Kung Fu so that he can face his enemies.

It comes as no surprise that young Jayden has a starring role in this childhood classic. Not only because it’s partial financed by his parents, Will & Jada Smith, but also because he is an amazing talent that had audiences everywhere falling in love with him after watching “The Pursuit of Happyness”. While Jackie Chan is no Mr. Miyagi, he certainly qualifies for the job of Kung-Fu Master.

I know that many of you are clinging to the past; it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation to enjoy the same magic that we did back in the day. This version of “The Karate Kid” is slated to be released on June 11, 2010 and is sure to be just as great as the original.
