We’re always looking for that next action packed gun slinger thrill, but just about nobody is willing to stake their life on a bunch of knives. Well nobody but Machete (Danny Trejo) that is.

The highly skilled blade thrower is a former renegade “Mexican Federale” who spends his time roaming the streets of Texas looking for work after shaking down Torrez (Steven Seagal) a local drug lord. When Machete gets approached by Michael Benz (Jeff Fahey) to assassinate a corrupt Senator (Robert De Niro), he soon realizes that he’s not only been double-crossed and set up.

Machete barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the help of a few allies; a group of illegal migrants; his old friend his “holy” Federale-turned-priest brother Padre (Cheech Marin) with a thing for pump-action shotguns; a saucy meat cleaver-wielding taco slinger named Luz (Michelle Rodriguez); and April Benz (Lindsey Lohan), whom Machete kidnaps and who soon develops a fascination for the blade-wielding fugitive since April has a penchant for guns.

The chase is on with Machete being tracked by Torrez’s ruthless henchwoman (Cheryl Chin), and by Sartana (Jessica Alba), a persistent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent with a special interest in the blade slinger. While these ladies hunt him, he’s hunting for the people who betrayed him.

Now it’s no secret that there hasn’t been a good Spanish based bang bang shoot-em up film out since Desperado (1995); which Danny Trejo also co-stared in. BUT Machete looks like it will have the makings of a good action flick and hits theaters on September 3, 2010.

AS A SIDE NOTE: This movie even manages to resurrect former Miami Vice co-star Don Johnson… SAY WORD! I guess this was worth him coming out of retirement for.
